Additional Information:Semicircular arch bridge constructed of large stone blocks, built c. 1886 on the road between Janesville and Evansville. Research indicates that this railroad viaduct was constructed in 1886-87 by the Janesville & Evansville Railway Company and deeded on completion to the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. See DOT Bridge Survey; WIS-DOT P-53-734. 2020: The Elgin Avenue Bridge (P-53-734) was constructed in 1903 by the Chicago & Northwestern Railway to carry the railroad tracks over Elgin Avenue. This 1-span, spandrel arch bridge is of stone block construction and features pentagonal, pointed ringstones and stepped, flared wingwalls at each corner. The bridge span measures 25 feet in length. A slightly projecting stringcourse spans the spandrel walls above the arch. No date stone or other identifying markers are visible." stone arch bridge
