2001:
This structure was erected in ca. 1878, after Henry Atkin purchased one acre from Robert W. Lawson. After serving as Henry Atkin's Hardware store, the building was purchased no later than 1891 by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In 1927, the IOOF built a new brick structure at the NE corner of Third and Lyndon streets and vacated the First Street location. Thereafter, the subject structure was utilized as the Waldo Village Hall and fire station. The second floor of this building was utilized for a variety of the town's organizations, including 4-H. Although volunteer firefighters existed prior to 1937, it was in that year that the Waldo Volunteer Fire Department reorganized. In 1962, a new Fire Department and Village Hall was constructed at 805 second street and the subject building was then sold to Norbert Hintz, Jr. Hintz uses the building as the office of his firm, the Waldo Oil Co., which was established in 1945.
