NOTES
Additional Information:This two story frame house is an example of the gabled ell vernacular form. It has both a two story gable section and a two-story ell. The building features an L-shaped plan configuration, an unspecified stone foundation, a clapboard exterior, and a wood trim. The asphalt shingled roof is low-pitched with wide eaves. Placed symmetrically on the house are tall windows with cornice lintels. The ell porch has been enclosed, obscuring the orignal main entrance of the house. The residence is in fair condition.

ARCHITECTECTURAL/ENGINEERING SIGNIFICANCE:

This building is a typical and good example of the two-story gabled ell house in the potential Prospect Hill Historic District.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

This house was built around 1870. While the original owner and exact date of construction have not been determined, a long-time owner was Orlando Baker, a carpenter, and his wife, Ellen, who both lived there from 1901 to 1919. The house was already divided into two apartments by the turn of the century. (See Bib. Ref. A).
