Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Property includes a two story T-cross gabled vernacular farmhouse with Greek Revival influence, built circa 1900s-1930s, a garage, shed, concrete stave silo, and a number of outbuildings. The house is clad in weathered clapboard, and has a poured concrete foundation and asphalt shingle roof, with an eave return detail at the gable end. Windows included both 6-over-6 and 4-over-4 double hung units. At the west end, a one story full width porch with square posts and balusters has a shed roof, also covered with asphalt shingle. There is a subtractive porch at the first floor in the center of the south façade. The gable-roofed dairy barn has concrete block foundation, vertically-oriented wood siding, a masonry chimney and asphalt shingle roofing. An adjacent one story concrete block building has multi-light windows, and considerably oxidized metal ventilators on the flat asphalt shingled roof. It is reputed to be one of the earliest milking parlors in the county. To the rear of this building is located a concrete stave silo without a cap which has a considerably oxidized filling tube. The property is somewhat overgrown, with a large pile of debris and pieces of building materials in front of the one story building. On a weathered one story gabled shed with horizontally-oriented wood siding, wood shingle roofing, poured concrete foundation, and a divided light casement window, is mounted a large sign for The Reservoir Ministries. The property has been operated as a retreat center and organic farm since the mid-2000s. No changes are to the house are evident since its 1977 survey date, however all of the agricultural buildings are considerably weathered. |
