2012 - Property settled by Job and Phoebe Barker in 1840. Son George Barker and wife Margaret built the subject residence 1868 on their 85 acre farm. George was a farmer and stock breeder. He also served as supervisor and chairman of the township board for the Town of Janesville, as well as town treasurer. Also a trustee of the Rock County asylum and poorhouse and president of the farm board. Fraternally he was master of the Janesville Grange and member of both the Elks and Ancient Order of United Workmen. Property ultimately became part of Crystal Springs Stock Farm owned by C.B. Shoemaker.
