Additional Information: | 2013: The Schoonover House is a two-story gable ell farmhouse that faces west toward CTH F. Resting on a coursed ashlar foundation, the walls are of cream brick and the moderately pitched gable roof has vinyl soffits and asphalt shingles. A one-story wing is attached at the rear of the main block. The corners feature decorative cream brick quoins. The main entrance is located on the west (front) elevation of the ell junction and consists of a recessed porch with four Doric columns supporting a flat lintel. The porch has been enclosed with vinyl siding and paired eight-light casement sash flank a central door. Window openings have stone sills and flat stone lintels set flush with the surface of the surrounding brick. Most window openings contain one-over-one, double-hung, vinyl replacement sash, though the second-floor windows on the facade contain two-over-two, wood, double-hung sash. Two small knee-wall windows are located beneath the eaves of the main elevation of the ell. A bay window is located on the south side. Portions of the wall surfaces on the rear wing have been altered and display red brick and vinyl siding. The property also contains several modern pole barns, a c.1940 milk house, and two c.1940 concrete stave silos, all located at the rear of the house. |
