NOTES
Additional Information:This two-story Arts and Crafts house was constructed in 1915 for Dr. George and Mary Post following a design by Chicago architect Fredrick Schock. It is rectangular in plan with red brick walls and an asphalt-shingled side-gabled roof with widely overhanging eaves and large pairs of decorative brackets at each corner. The front elevation faces north and is symmetrical in plan with a projecting entry porch at the center of the façade. The porch features a gable roof with a brick parapet and heavy brick piers. Stone or concrete coping along the upper edge of the parapet terminates in tapered square planters; below these, the brick support piers feature geometric stone or concrete ornamentation. Engaged piers where the porch roof meets the face of the building feature the same ornamentation. Windows on each side of the porch are banks of three tall, narrow, four-over-one replacement windows. Second story windows include a small pair of multi-pane casements at the center of the façade and banks of three three-over-one windows on each side. All windows feature brick lintels with contrasting stone corner blocks. Two front-gabled dormers project from the front roof slope; these contain insensitive single-pane windows (including a polygonal center window flanked by small square windows).
