NOTES
Additional Information:This house was built for G. T. Hanson, a hardware store owner in Orfordville. When first surveyed in 1977 the house was clad in wood clapboards. It was resurveyed in 2021 and by then it had been partially resided in vinyl clapboards and its original front porch had been replaced with another one of a different design. 2021: This is a rectilinear plan two-story-tall later Queen Anne Style house, and it was probably built ca.1900. The house rests on cut stone foundation walls that enclose a full basement story, and it is mostly sided in original narrow wood clapboards that are sheltered by the hip-and-gable main roof, although some portions of the wall surface in the rear of the house may have vinyl siding. The house’s multiple gable ends are clad in decorative octagonal pattern wood shingles and the house’s most distinctive feature is its octagonal corner tower, which is a signature element in Queen Anne style designs. The owner was G. T. Hanson, who owned a hardware store.
