NOTES
Additional Information:This house contributes to the architectural significance of the proposed Jefferson Avenue Historic District as a very fine example of the American Foursquare form with a strong suggestion of the Prairie style. The form of the house is primarily from the American Foursquare style, but the broad horizontal emphasis of the massing with the hip roof and wide overhanging eaves suggests the Prairie style. Also, the broad front porch suggests the style, wtih its flat roof and wide eaves along with the large arched openings. The fine narrow clapboards and stucco covering of the house are well-preserved features of the building.

Born in 1874, George Hatch was a noted harpist, orchestra leader, and Janesville's "dance master" who taught many local residents. He founded his own orchestra in 1912 and between 1924 and 1940 managed Cincinnati's leading dance academy. The Hatches taught in many local halls including the Apollo on W. Milwaukee Street. The WHS waived its 30-day raze notice for the side addition on 7/12/2013.
