Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Dalton Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. THIS LARGE BUNGALOW STYLE HOUSE HAS A CONCRETE BLOCK FOUNDATION AND IT WAS ORIGINALLY SURVEYED IN 1981. THIS HOUSE WAS RESURVEYED IN 2004 IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SEC. 106 SURVEY OF STH 44 (WisDOT #6030-03-00/01/02) BUT WAS NOT REPHOTOGRAPHED SINCE ITS CONDITION IS UNCHANGED SINCE THE ORIGINAL SURVEY. THIS HOUSE WAS BUILT BETWEEN 1915 AND 1920 FOR CHARLES DALTON, ONE OF THE TEN CHILDREN OF JOHN AND JEANETTE DALTON, WHOSE FARMHOUSE IS ACROSS THE ROAD AT W6516 STH 44 (AHI# 90192). JEANNETE DALTON PLATTED A STRETCH OF LAND ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF STH 44 INTO TEN LOTS, ONE FOR EACH OF HER CHILDREN. FIVE OF THEM BUILT HOUSES ON THESE LOTS BETWEEN 1910 AND 1920. |
