Additional Information: | 2014: Previously surveyed with the building to the west; now inventoried separately. Datestone identifies 1916 & U. Rueckert. This 2-story Twentieth Century Commercial building was constructed in 1916. It is irregular in plan with a concrete foundation, brick walls, and a flat roof with a decorative iron cornice that features brackets and a small, round-archced parapet at the center of the north elevation. The building’s front entrance is located within the cutaway northeast corner. A bank of shop windows along the north elevation feature leaded-glass transoms. Another bank of shop windows near the center of the north elevation contains a recessed entrance with transoms that have been covered in composition board siding. A third doorway is located near the west end of the north elevation; this is a smaller metal security door with single-pane transom and provides access to the second-floor residential spaces. Second-story windows are 1-over-1 replacements. A stone panel below the cornice in the north elevation reads “1916 / U. Ruekert.” |
