SMALLER VERSION OF CLAUDE & STARCK'S LIBRARIES AT EVANSVILLE, TOMAH & MERRILL. PROJECTING ENTRY BAY W/POLYGONAL CNR COLUMNS & MOULDED EAVES. HIGH FOUNDATION. Map code is 11+50 LT. A 7,500 square foot addition was made to the building in 1998.[A] Wayne Spangler of Rice Lake was the architect. The original plans were published in: Wisconsin Free Library Commission, "New Small Types of Library Buildings," 1913. Construction of the library was funded through a grant from nationally prominent library philanthropist and steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. Designed by Madison architectural firm of (Louis W.) Claude and (Edward F.) Starck in the Prairie School mode. |
