BAY ON FRONT. 2024 - This Italianate residence was constructed circa 1850. The two-story house is constructed from pale red brick with cream brick quoins and cast stone detailing. The hipped-and gabled-roof is clad in asphalt shingles, while the raised foundation is constructed of brick. It is irregular in plan, consisting of two cross-gables and a one-story mass at the northern end of the structure. The primary elevation faces south, with a wooden double-door entrance beneath a segmental arched brick surround. The transom window above features carved wooden detailing. The original entry porch has been removed. The first story window openings east of the entrance contain double-hung sashes with stained-glass panels. Windows here and throughout most of the building are faced with wooden storm windows, with round-arched brick surrounds topped with a cast stone keystone and cast stone lintels. The second story windows are smaller in scale, with a wide wooden cornice and enclosed pediments in the gables above. A flat-roofed oriel bay ornamented with cast stone is located on the secondary eastern elevation. A porch in the ell of the south-and east-facing cross gables has been removed. Related outbuildings include a barn complex, silos, and agricultura outbuildings in various states of repair. |
