Location: | The fire consumed the J.S. "40 to 60 rods above the Bad Axe Island on the Mississippi River." per Captain George Nichols. After the passengers got off the burning vessel it was towed out into the Mississippi River to make it easier to fight the fire. But, in a short time the vessel burned to the water line and it was then towed and beached on the Wisconsin side of the river about two miles north of Victory, Wisconsin. |
