Accessing Collections
The vast majority of the items in our collections are not online. The Society owns thousands of archival collections viewable in our Archives reading room. To view and conduct research in our collections, visit us in person.
Factory
The factory of William E. Belles, with the text, "William E. Belles MFGR of Men's and Boy's Night Robes".
Bethlehem Steel Company
The first rails of puddled iron were rolled on Bethlehem Steel Company's rolling mill September 26th, 1863.
Oil Field
An oil field in Titusville, Pennsylvania, where Edwin Drake constructed the first oil well in 1859.
The First Oil Well
Drake Well, named for Edwin Drake, is credited as the first oil well and was constructed in 1859.
Eastern Steel Works Factories
In the late 1800's Eastern Steel Works replaced Pottsville Rolling Mill, and was in operation until 1931 when it was replaced by Bethlehem Steel.
