Testimonial Banquet for Thomas E. Jones, UW Track Coach
Image
Testimonial banquet, in Crystal Ballroom of the Loraine Hotel, sponsored by the Rotary Club, for Thomas E. Jones, U.W. track coach, who will be retiring after almost four decades. He received a check from the W Club for $1,200 to help defray the expenses of his trip to London where he will help coach the U.S. Olympic track team. The picture shows Jones sitting with Arlie Mucks, former world's record holder in the discus throw, at his left. In the back row, left to right, are Frank Hill, Northwestern track coach; Harry Stuhldreher, Wisconsin athletic director, and Kenneth L. "Tug" Wilson, Western Conference athletic commissioner.
