Automobile Accident on County Trunk M
Image
Onlookers surveying damage from a fatal two-car collision. The view is looking south on County Trunk Highway M, between Speedway Road and Middleton. In the accident Leo Maly was killed, and his wife, Edna, and son, Paul, and brother-in-law, Raymond Frisch, were injured. August Sternhagen, from Mazomanie, was also injured. This photograph was taken by news photographer Angus McVicar. His collection in the Archives, as well as those of numerous other Wisconsin newspaper photographers, testify to both the frequency and destructiveness of automobile accidents even during the automobile's early days.
