Carte-de-visite portrait of Albert D. Hager (1817-1888), assistant state geologist for the Vermont state geological survey at the time of this photograph. He also served as the publisher for many of the survey reports. Served as Vermont State Geologist from 1864-1870, and Missouri State Geologist from 1870-71. Handwritten text at the top and bottom of the image read, "Hager, 1862," and "A.D. Hager, 1862," respectively.
