Purity Baking Company Metro Truck

Image

A man unloads a box from the rear of an International LM-120 with Metro body owned by the Purity Baking Company. The truck is parked on the side of a street in front of La Nave Grocery. The original caption reads: "The Purity Baking Company of El Paso, Texas, operates 14 International multi-stop delivery trucks equipped with Metro bodies. Four of these are the new LM-120 models with new all-steel Metro bodies. One of these, painted a distinctive orange with the red-and-white Purity bread loaf wrapper reproduced on the side panel in jumbo style, is shown in accompanying illustrations. The company operates 28 trucks, 23 of which are Internationals. Some of these are larger, heavy-duty trucks for longer runs north to Las Cruces, and southeast to Ft. Hancock and Esperanza. In El Paso the company operates 19 routes on which the trucks average 42 stops and 40 miles per day. The new all-steel Metro body shown is 9 1/2 feet long and provides convenient arrangement of bread boxes in the payload compartment and of special packages on the engine cover for efficient and quick handling."
