Accessing Collections
The vast majority of the items in our collections are not online. The Society owns thousands of archival collections viewable in our Archives reading room. To view and conduct research in our collections, visit us in person.
Gary Giese Farm
2004
Gary Giese's farm milks 30 cows that produce about 1,000 lbs. of milk per day.
Hilgendorf Barn — Interior
circa 2000-2009
The Hilgendorfs farm 300 acres with 55 milking cows and 45 heifers and calves. On this day they produced a little over 3,000 lbs. of milk.
Benter Barn — Alternate View
2004
Lois Benter's parents, Ervin and Alice Giese, and grandparent, Albert Giese, were the previous owners. The last cows to be milked were in August of 2000.
Frank Barn — Interior
circa 2000-2009
Paul and Carol Frank have been married 43 years. They milk 20 cows that produce about 800 lbs. of milk daily.
Giese Barn — Alternate View

The Gieses moved here in 1990. They currently milk 100 cows in a new, modern structure.
Steinbach Barn
circa 2000-2009
Bill and Werner Steinbach pose in front of this barn, built in 1924. The barn is at W2288 Gill Road. The last time cows were milked here was in November, 1987.
