Head and shoulders oval portrait of Charles Solar Olson, a private in Company K, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in (enlistment credited to) Verona, Wisconsin. On January 11, 1864, he enlisted in Madison, Wisconsin and on January 28, 1864, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 26. He was recruited and joined Company K on March 31, 1864, at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. On May 27, 1864, he was wounded slightly in the leg during the fighting near New Hope Church, Georgia. On December 20, 1864, he was transferred to the 2nd Battalion, Veteran Reserve Corps by order of the Secretary of War. He was mustered out of service on September 18, 1865, in Davenport, Iowa.
