Three-quarter-length studio portrait of Albert E. Rice in uniform, a private in Company K, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in (enlistment credited to) the Town of East Troy, Wisconsin. On January 12, 1862, he enlisted in Madison, Wisconsin and on February 17, 1862, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 18. He was recruited and joined Company K on March 31, 1864, at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. He was wounded in his left hand during the fighting near New Hope Church, Georgia. He was sent to a hospital in Madison, Wisconsin to recover. He was temporarily assigned to Company H, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in New Albany, Indiana on February 15, 1865. He was mustered out of service on June 3, 1865, in Louisville Kentucky.
