Waist-up carte-de-visite portrait of Captain Charles H. Cox, Company ?H, 50th Wisconsin Infantry. Prior to this he lived in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. On March 24, 1865 he was given the rank of Captain. On July 10, 1865 Cox was shot by Private Ole Julson while they were onboard the steamer Post Boy on the Missouri River. Cox died from his wounds on July 11, 1865 at the age of 40.
