Engraved vignetted carte-de-visite portrait of Major General Joseph Hooker. General Hooker received a commission of Brigadier General from President Lincoln following the Union defeat at the First Battle of Bull Run. In May 1862, after the Battle of Williamsburg, he was promoted to Major General and went on to command forces at the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and through the Atlanta Campaign.
