A composite of Civil War Confederate Commanders, this is one of the first known examples of a composite photograph and of the use of photography in advertising. From the left are depicted A.P. Hill, J.B. Hood, Jefferson Davis, J.E.B. Stuart, T.J. (Stonewall) Jackson, Robert E. Lee, James Longstreet, J.E. Johnston, and P.G.T. Beauregard. Text at bottom reads: "Confederate Commanders, with compliments of the Travelers Insurance Company."
