Old Abe Collector Card

Old Abe, eagle mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Regiment. Popular cards sold in great quantities as benefit items ($9 per 100), so great was this bird's fame. Card features Old Abe perched on a shield with the American stars and stripes painted on it. At the bottom of the card it reads " Old Abe of the Live Eagle Regiment (8th Wisconsin)". Image republished by Ella E. Gibson for the benefit of Charles Russell Lowell Encampment, Post 7, G.A.R., at their Fair, March 1, 1870.
