Lithograph of Camp Randall, where the majority of Wisconsin's soldiers were trained and mustered into the Union Army. This view, which was taken from Bascom Hill looking southwest, shows a railroad track in the foreground which followed the route along University Avenue still used today. Inside the fenced enclosure are barracks, the prison yard and guard house, officers quarters, stables, and (the large building on the right) a hospital.
