Albert E. Smith, one of the founders of the Vitagraph motion picture company, stands with a cigar in his mouth looking down at the silent film star Antonio Moreno (also with cigar) sitting at the wheel of a small racing car just outside the Vitagraph studio gates in East Hollywood, California. The miniature automobile is an Al Smith Special with 1920 California license plates, no doubt the same car mentioned in the advertisement below: ACTORS' FUND FESTIVAL "Five mile auto race between Tony Moreno in Art Smith baby racer and Tod Sloan driving the Stagg-Packard Special." Los Angeles Times, 3 June 1921, p. II 10.
