Painting depicting Chippewa Falls and the first sawmill on the Chippewa River, built by Jean Brunet. The residence of H.S. Allen, one of the owners of the mill, is in the foreground at the mouth of Duncan Creek. Houses depicted on the right side of the painting are in Chippewa Falls; those on the left are across the Chippewa River in Frenchtown.
