Doty's Loggery. Caption printed under image reads: "Governor James Duane Doty, in 1845, built this log house on Doty's Island (Menasha), and resided there until 1861. Governor Doty was the second governor of the Territory of Wisconsin. He was public spirited, upright and able. Political prejudices were strong in his day and he figured in many contests, he died at Salt Lake City in 1865. The historic log house is now the property of Mr. John Strange, whose public spirit has saved it from decay."
