Mt. Trempealeau, Perrot State Park

Aerial view looking east at Mt. Trempealeau from Brady's Bluff in Perrot State Park. The Mississippi River is visible along the bluffs at upper left, and the Trempealeau River is visible in the foreground. The name "Trempealeau" was given to this land-form by seventeenth century French explorers. It is a (romanticized) transliteration of the Winnebago and Chippewa names for the "Mountain which bathes its feet in the water".
