View of Prairie du Chien Sanitarium. "The grounds where this sanitarium stands was the site of Gen. Taylor's headquarters at Fort Crawford in 1832. It was then the home of Hon. John Lawler. In 1902 it was bought from the John Lawler estate and the sanitarium was opened to the public for business in 1903." -Sergt. Geo. Fairfield. Caption reads: "Sanitarium, Prairie du Chien, Wis."
