James Duane Doty Residence

The James Duane Doty residence on Doty Street (formerly Clymer Street), the first "Executive Mansion" in Madison, occupied in 1841-1844 by the Territorial Governor. Jane Williams is standing by the door; she was a sister of "Prof." Williams, an African American barber, who had at one time been valet to Edwin Forrest, the actor.
