McLellan's Store Exterior

Text on reverse reads: "July 1941. This is an exterior view of our new and enlarged store at West Allis, Wis. Note the double set of doors and corner entrance. W.L. Nolan." A two-story, Neoclassical, brick building with a variety store on the first floor and doctor's offices above. The store has a sign that reads "McLellan's", three entrance doors, and large display windows full of products and merchandise. Signs read: "Summer Toys and Games", "Picnic Supplies", "Play Clothes" and "Cookies and Cakes." The doctors' names can be seen in the second story windows: "Dr. Frederick", "Dr. J. Slattery" and "Dr. Baxter, Osteopath." The building was built in 1911. Opened in the 1920s as McLellan's, renamed McCrory's in 1963, Rentmeester's M.C. Variety in 1996 and finally closed at 1:00 pm on June 21st, 2005.
