A Map of New England & Ye Country Adjacent: Extending Northward to Quebec, & Westward to Niagara, on Lake Ontario; Shewing Gen. Shirley and Gen. Johnson's Routs, & Many Places Omitted in Other Maps
Map
This map of New England includes three inset maps of Fort Oswego (Oswego, N.Y.), Fort du Quesne (or, Fort Duquesne, Pa.), and Fort Frederick (or, Fort Saint Frederic, Crown Point, N.Y.). The map shows colonies, a few cities, forts (marked as French or English), land of the Six Nations, rivers, portages, and lakes, including Lake Ontario. The routes of General Shirley and General Johnson are shown and labeled, though while an annotation highlights Johnson's defeat of the French near Crown Point, Shirley's loss near Fort Oswego makes no such appearance. The title cartouche sits in the lower right corner, decorated with trees while a ship sails behind it.
