A Particular Map, to Illustrate Gen. Amherst's Expedition to Montreal: With a Plan of the Town & Draught of ye Island
Map
This map shows upstate New York, Lake Ontario, and the St. Lawrence River during the last, decisive battle of the French and Indian War. The main map shows Native American lands, along with forts, cities, islands, portages, waterfalls, lakes and rivers. In the bottom right corner, an inset map shows Montreal Island, the Thousand Islands, and the surrounding area. A map in the upper left corner shows a detailed depiction of the town of Montreal, including street names, hospitals, churches, monasteries, convents, gates, town wall and fortifications, and various other points of interest. Despite the title of the map, no military action or routes are indicated. A handwritten manuscript annotation near Niagara Falls reads: "Davan Town."
