Duemling worked with Brumder as an editor at Germania Publishing and was also active in Grace Lutheran Church. Andrae, described on the back of the photograph as a "lifelong friend of Geo. Brumder," was the founder of a telephone and electrical equipment manufacturing company. Standing behind the men are three sons of George Brumder, from left: Herman Otto, Alfred Julius, and George Frederick Brumder.
