Map of the Territory of Wisconsin

Map

This map, created to accompany a congressional report, shows the Wisconsin Territory, including present-day states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and parts of North and South Dakota. Although not part of the Wisconsin Territory, the map also includes northern Illinois. The map shows Native American tribal regions, 1830 and 1832 land cessions and General Land Office districts. Roads, canals, proposed railroads, cities, villages, trading houses, rivers, lakes, portages, rapids, and other major geographical features are labeled.
