This map shows rural landownership and acreages, lot and block numbers, selected buildings, roads, railroads, and public squares. It also shows building footprints for the courthouse, hotels, a seminary, churches, and a steam mill, with a letter key at upper left. Also included is a second map that is hand-colored, includes manuscript notations, and just shows the main additions that are on the original map. Additions are colored in red, yellow, and blue. This map can be folded into booklet form and the verso reads: "Monroe, Green Co., Wis., 1857, Drawn by W.W. Card. Mounted September 1868, J.T. Dodge C.E."
