Letter from George Washington Crawford to Orlando Brown, 1849 August 28

George W. Crawford, Secretary of War, responds to the request of Orlando Brown, Commissioner of Indian Affairs, to send military forces at Fort Howard, near Green Bay, Wisconsin to mediate between the Menominee and white people of the area. Crawford has forwarded the request to the General-in-Chief of the Army. This letter is a copy of the original.
