Remonstrance against reannexing Manitowoc County to Brown County
Text
Petitioners state that they know of opposing petitions in favor of reuniting the counties of Manitowoc, Sheboygan, and Calumet to Brown County. They state they are against Brown County reannexing Manitowoc County. They believe that the expense and inconvenience that will follow if the county is enlarged in this way will fall to the residents who would have to travel farther to reach the county seat. They also state that the residents of Manitowoc County have already spent money on building a county house and producing "books, maps, & charts, requisite for county purposes." They further state that Manitowoc County is free from debt.
