Built between 1864 and 1921 on Main Street and Appleton Avenue, these two-story commercial and industrial structures near the Menomonee River show influences of popular architectural styles such as Italianate, Romanesque, Queen Anne and Neo-Classical. The district contains retail stores, hotels, a mill, and a reconstructed mill pond and dam.
