It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Lozoff was the builder. Locally designated on 11/17/1987. Resurveyed for Milwaukee Downtown Connector Arch/History Survey, SHPO#10-0983, Prepared by Heritage Research (2010). 2010: Located at the northeast corner of E. Wisconsin Avenue and N. Broadway Street, this six-story, Contemporary-style office building is defined by slender vertical concrete ribbons that define six plate-glass and metal-panel enclosed bays. The ribbons form the supports for a rooftop flat canopy that runs along the building's streetside facades. The street level features large, plate-glass windows protected by narrow, flat overhangs. Designed by Abendroth Torke & Associates. 2017 - This six-story office building was originally constructed in 1926, but the exterior was completely remodeled in the New Formalism style between 1965 and 1968. It has a rectilinear footprint, box-like form, and flat roof. The street-facing elevations are characterized by a series of slender concrete columns that extend from the ground to above the roofline, where they support a flat roof-top canopy that extends across the west and south sides of the building. Between the columnar supports are fenestration bays. On the first story this includes large storefront windows sheltered by flat concrete canopies. On the five upper stories, each bay includes a grouping of six plate-glass windows per floor with corresponding metal spandrel panels between floors. |
