Additional Comments the Durand Masonic Temple was erected in 1955 (cornerstone at northeast corner of building). It is a brick, front-gabled building displaying the influence of the Neo-Classical style. It is set on a concrete basement. A short, gabled parapet hides the building's asphalt shingled roof. The centrally-located main entrance is recessed into a flat-arched portal framed by pilasters with Corinthian capitals. The window openings hold glass blocks, which is the original configuration.

The Durand Lodge was established more than 100 years ago. Its membership has fluctuated over time, declined in recent years and now stands at 100. For many years, the Durand Masonic Lodge has awarded one or two to area high school students to defray college expenses. While the scholarships are laudable they do not lend the Lodge the exceptional importance that would qualify it for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
