| Additional Comments | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. DENTILLED EAVES. STUCCOED OVER BRICK EXTERIOR. 2024: The Suckow Milling Company building was constructed in 1857. It has an irregular plan and stone foundation. The main mass of the building is two-and-one-half stories with a front-gable roof and stepped parapet with a tile drip cap on the facade. The central entrance consists of a double-leaf wood door flanked by vinyl six-over-one windows. Two vinyl six-over-one windows are located at the second story and an inscription reading “Suckow Milling Company” is located in the gable end. The front (west) facade and portions of the side (north and south) elevations are clad in stucco over the original cream brick; the remaining siding is vinyl. Brick stucco-clad corbelling is located below the eaves. A one-story ell with a hip roof is located on the side (north) elevation. The rest of the side elevation, the rear elevation, and opposite side elevation have replacement vinyl windows and new entrances. A full-width stoop spans the facade. A two-story concrete tower is located off the side (south) elevation. The area between the main massing and the tower was historically the cooper shop; it is now an open space and serves as a patio. Alterations include the replacement siding and windows, altered entrances, stoop addition, and the removal of the cooper shop. |
