A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. Historical/Architectural Survey: "Selected Armories of the Wisconsin Army National Guard" Heritage Research Ltd. The Wisconsin Rapids Armory was also designed by Lt. Col. Henry Hengles and is nearly identical to the facility in Platteville. It is an example of the Art Deco style of architecture, albeit a restrained example, and remains largely intact - its replacement windows notwithstanding. The Wisconsin Rapids Armory exhibits a good degree of historical integrity and is a fine example of an early World War II armory. |
