| Additional Comments | 2026: This two-story Neoclassical commercial building was constructed in 1916 to serve as the New Lisbon State Bank. It is rectangular in plan with brick walls and a flat roof. The front elevation faces north and is symmetrical in composition with a central entrance. The entry is accentuated by classical surround that features Tuscan columns with scrolled capitals and a dentilated entablature that is incised with the word “BANK.” The entry doors are newer metal-framed glass doors with a matching transom. Two, singly-placed window openings are located on each side of the front entry; the windows in these openings have been replaced with downsized, two-pane, metal-framed windows with reflective glass. The second story contains three large window openings separated by brick pilasters with stone capitals. Each window opening contains a composition of four metal-framed, fixed-sash windows (two large panels with smaller “transom” panels above). Above the second story, a long, horizontally-oriented stone panel reads “NEW LISBON STATE BANK.” Above this, the building features a classically-inspired stone cornice. A one-story extension to the building’s west elevation (constructed after 1927) adds additional street frontage and contains two large window banks containing replacement, metal-framed reflective glass panels. Replacement windows, one story addition to east appears historic, but later than the original bank. Built in 1916 for the bank that formed in 1911 in another downtown New Lisbon location. A formed concrete inset name plaque is set above the second floor windows, with "New Lisbon State Bank" engraved into the plaque. |
