Outstanding example of an early commercial building with early storefront in somewhat original condition. In 1892, the Charles L. Kiewert Co. was located here. This brewery supply business was established in 1870 as Kiewert and Ladwig and by 1892 were distributing throughout the west, transacting $400,000 business annually. The building was originally constructed as the store of the Wisconsin Leather Co., which was established in 1846. |
