Built in 1876, the St. Patrick's Church was designed in the Italianate style by architect Thomas N. Philpot. [A. B, C, D]. The building was also commonly known as the South Side Pre-School.

A new entrance was built in 1902 and a story added in 1908. Originally was the first English speaking Roman Catholic church on Milwaukee's south side.

1973: "This building was the original church for the first English-speaking Catholic congregation on Milwaukee's south side. Organized in 1876, the parish consisted initially of members from Saint Gall's Parish. The building cast $20,000 and was dedicated late in 1876. Classrooms were located on the first level, the second floor served as a temporary church. When the present church building was completed in 1894, the upper level was converted into classrooms.
