DUDLEY WAS THE EDITOR OF ELECTRICAL INFORMATION PUBLICATIONS. HIS HOUSE WAS DESIGNED BY HERB FRITZ, ARCHITECT, AND WAS BUILT BY MARSHALL ERDMAN. IN 1966, THE HOUSE WAS OWNED BY DR. HENRY KAPLAN, WHO HAD AN ADDITION BUILT BY M. M. NELSON, CONTRACTOR. Blueprints state "Addition for house for Dr. & Mrs. Henry Kaplan 2811 Ridge Road - Madison Wisconsin Fritz Associates, Architect, 313 Price Place, Lafayette Building Madison Wisconsin phone 238-0301." Henry Kaplan, was a psychology professor at UW-Madison. His wife Helen was an artist. When Linda Jordan bought the house in 1995, the Kaplans said they had lived here for 33 years meaning that the first owners only lived here for 12 years. From a prairie mod blog post when Linda Jordan was searching, she learned that the first owners moved to the country so they could have horses. The daughter of the first owners posted on the blog that Herb Fritz wanted them to have big pillows in the living room, but no furniture. Her family did not comply with his wishes. |
